There is nothing like fall in the south. And I’m not just talking about pumpkin picking in your favorite pair of boots while sippin’ on a PSL. Not that those things aren’t pure fall goodness. But what I’m really talking about is the fresh cool air, the blue skies and the amazing color that is the changing of the leaves. This is why the front porch becomes my favorite spot in the fall and why it gets the most attention this time of year.
This is where I catch up with my husband when we get home from work. We hang out with our dog Brady, sit and talk about our day, and most of the time we have something on the grill. So I want it to be as cozy and comfortable as possible. Basically, I like to think of it as an extension of our living room. Brace yourself. There are lots of photos.
I added softness with a plush throw on the bench and a DIY faux sheepskin on the ottoman. Of course I had to add some bling so I used some gold spray paint on the bamboo chairs and shopped the house for some gold accessories. I incorporated some rustic texture with the branch wreath and a crate to store magazines. Then I added some pops of pattern and fun touches with pillows, rugs, and greenery. Oh, and I finally found the perfect spot for the print I found on Etsy.
This porch brings together some of my favorite elements. A contrast of rustic and shiny materials and a mix of patterns. I was already using most of these things, I just gave them a new look with some spray paint, by moving things around and bringing out some things I was using inside the house. I did pick up a few new accessories from a couple of my favorite places to shop. The pillows on the bamboo chairs and that yummy throw on the bench are from Tuesday Morning. I found the wreath and that fun greenery when I went to Southeastern Salvage a couple of weeks ago.
We are supposed to have some perfect fall weather for the next few days so if you need me, this is where I’ll be.
